I first became interested in UACJ Metal Components Corporation when I learned that it handles craft products.
There was something attractive about a metal components company that makes traditional products.
When I learned that the company also handles a variety of other products, I decided that I wanted to try my hand at designing here and joined the company.
I’m currently assigned to the building materials section and am involved in design work.
I think it's amazing that the expansions I design are used in actual buildings.
One of the joys of working in the construction industry is knowing that what we make will exist for decades.
For building materials, the construction drawings are created either after the order has been placed or before.
If it's the former, the construction has already been decided, so we’ll typically create designs to match the site in discussion with the general contractor, sales staff, and construction staff.
We’ll install expansions in the gaps and build to match the specs of the property.
Our ability to meet these conditions is where we show off our skills.
If, on the other hand, we're creating drawings for a potential job that a salesperson brings in, then we'll incorporate the quality and specifications determined by the design office in the design stage.
It always feels good to get an order based on these drawings.
One isn’t better than the other, and both provide the joy of being in charge of design.
There are times when construction doesn’t go according to plan.
Sometimes the drawings and the actual site won’t match up.
When a problem like this comes up, we’ll first go to the site to assess the situation.
We’ll investigate the cause of the problem and where it occurred.
We may then suggest alternative installation methods on the spot.
We once had a craftsman install a roof expansion in a way that was different from the drawing.
It turns out he’d made the call on his own in response to a request that had been made on-site. By changing the installation method, we were able to solve the problem on the spot.
The person who was in charge of that general contractor is someone I still meet at other sites. Now, every time we meet, he praises me for what I did there.
So even if there are mistakes, if we respond properly, they can be used to build greater trust and generate motivation.
I hope to communicate well with those around me, and produce reliable work.

Personal life
Since moving to Tokyo, I've been taking walks and riding my bike around the neighborhood to get some light exercise.
Tokyo actually has a lot of parks and greenery spots, and they're great for when I want to relax or enjoy a change of pace.
Vision for the future
Since UACJ Metal Components Corporation handles a wide range of fields, I would like to be involved in various areas and not limited to building materials.
I’d particularly like to try my hand at craft products.
But even just communicating with other departments is very stimulating.
Message
I want you to do things that you can only do as a student.
You can learn a lot even after joining a company, so please find a workplace that matches your interests.
UACJ Metal Components Corporation is a very good company to work for.
Many of the people around me are warm and friendly. A lot of things are also left up to me, so I think it's an easy environment to work in.
